Jenni Rivera's Daughter Chiquis Rivera Denies Rumors of Affair with Stepfather
Chiquis Rivera, daughter of Mexican American Latin Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Jenni Rivera, has decided to open up about her alleged affair with her stepfather, baseball player Esteban Loaiza. The possible affair caused a great deal of strain on Chiquis and Jenni's relationship, so much so that they didn't speak for the last two months of Jenni's life.
On December 9, when leaving a concert at the Monterrey Arena in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Jenni Rivera's Learjet 25 lost contact with air traffic control while en route to Toluca. Those aboard were presumed dead until it was confirmed by Mexican authorities that there were, in fact, no survivors. Rivera was buried on December 31, 2012.
Two months prior to her death, Jenni and her daughter Chiquis severed their close relationship, after Jenni was told by an unknown source that Chiquis had slept with Esteban Loaiza, her stepfather, whom Jenni immediately proceeded to divorce.
Chiquis stated that what transpired between her and her mother "was a misunderstanding," which was prompted by lies. She said that it was a horrible rumor, promoted by people who wanted to cause pain, and didn't understand how it got it began. She also said that Loaiza was "very respectful towards me and me with him."
Chiquis reflected on the loss of her mother, and expressed her grief over her mother passing without getting an opportunity to reconcile with her.
"Every day I have to live with this, no one knows the pain I carry, especially because it was a misunderstanding," she explained while in tears. "I didn't have the opportunity to sit down with my mother and explain things. Every day I wake up and go to bed with this pain."
Despite not speaking to Chiquis, Jenni dedicated the song "Paloma Negra" to her daughter, a song that said to carry great meaning to the both of them. The song spoke of reconciliation and hope.
Chiquis is set to play the role of her mother, "La Diva de la Banda" in a biopic, following the dismissal of Itallia Cantoral, who was fired for excessive drinking and bad behavior.
