Nick and Vanessa Lachey Give Birth to Second Baby: 'Entertainment Tonight' Host Talks Being a Mother to Daughter on Blog
Nick and Vanessa Lachey on Monday welcomed their second child, a baby girl.
According to Us Weekly, Brooklyn Elisabeth Lachey weighed in at 7 pounds and 15 ounces and "has already won over all of our hearts," her mother announced on the couple's official website.
Vanessa, to many still known by her maiden name, Minnillo, is a New York-based correspondent for "Entertainment Tonight" and former host of MTV's "Total Request Live." The former Miss Teen USA married 98 Degrees lead singer Nick Lachey in 2011, and the two already have a son, 2-year-old Camden.
"Nick, Camden and I are so excited to announce the birth of our sweet, beautiful baby girl," the Philippines-born TV personality wrote. "I have been dreaming of this moment for as long as I can remember, the day I was going to meet my little girl."
A friend told Vanessa that with the birth of a daughter she would meet her "best friend," the 34-year-old continued.
"I can't even begin to tell you how it felt to hold her in my arms for the very first time," she told her fans. "Mommy, Daddy and big brother Cam love you so much already, Brooklyn! Thank you to everyone for your love and support, it means so much to our family."
Brooklyn was born at 5:17 p.m. and measured 21 inches long, People revealed.
The Lacheys had announced in June they were expecting the girl.
During the pregnancy, Nick had openly wondered what his future as a father-of-two would be like.
"I can't imagine loving a child more than I love my son, so I guess it's just gonna be a different kind of love," he said.
In a November interview with ABC News, the 41-year-old had revealed he had his wife had already chosen a name for their girl -- a "cool" name "with meaning" as the "Sing-Off" host put it.
Nick also discussed the issue of preparing Camden for his new sibling.
"I don't know that he's fully realized what's going on, but he definitely knows his baby sister's in mommy's belly," he said. "... It's when she's here and stealing all his thunder and attention that it's really going to set in, but it'll be exciting!"
