Thursday Night Football 2013 NFL Preview: Arizona Cardinals Looking To Upset First Place Seattle Seahawks
Although the first place Seattle Seahawks have jumped out to an impressive 5-1 start to the season, their last place opponent this week could make the division race much more interesting with a win.
The Arizona Cardinals are floating at .500 with a 3-3 record and a win would put them only 1 victory away from Seattle. A loss, however, would sink the Cardinals below .500 and deeper into the pits of the NFC West. Arizona is coming off a loss last week but Seahawks coach Pete Carroll still knows the game won't be a walk in the park. But as always, he hopes his team can continue to build from here.
"I don't know if we'll be able to reach the levels that we saw late last year where we were scoring points at a huge rate (while winning the final five regular-season games)," Carroll said. "That was an enormous run that we had. But that's good to expect that and I'd like to see that too."
Young quarterback Russell Wilson is in the midst of a decent 2013 campaign. Wilson has tossed 8 touchdowns as opposed to only 4 interceptions and has tallied 1,254 yards in the air thus far. Arizona's quarterback, Carlos Palmer, has 200 more yards passing this season but has fewer touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
Although Seattle's defense has been a bright spot this year, it will still have to work hard to limit star wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. The veteran wideout leads the squad with 30 catches for 405 yards this season.
Kickoff is slated for 8:25 p.m. ET in Arizona.
