GTA V Problems & Fixes: Older Xbox 360 Crashes and Stimulus Package of $500K Online Cash To Appease Players
Grand Theft Auto V is well on its way to becoming perhaps the most prolific video game of all time. As we've found out during its first month on shelves however, that doesn't mean that its release went all that smoothly.
For one, there has been the recent addition of online play for the game. As soon as players started logging on to play online, glitches were found that were depriving many users of hard-earned cars and upgrades.
"Given some of the recent technical issues during these first days of GTA Online, and now that things are starting to look much smoother (touch wood!), we are planning to provide a special stimulus package for all who have played or will play Grand Theft Auto Online this month," said a statement from Rockstar Games.
That stimulus package is a half million virtual dollars for all online players to spend in the world of GTA V. The gesture is in hopes of smoothing over discontent from some users who even had whole characters lost after hours of gameplay was put in.
"For those asking about their lost characters or rank, those will not be able to be restored so we sincerely hope that this cash stimulus we're giving out this month will help you get back on your feet or to make your new life in Los Santos & Blaine extra sweet," Rockstar Games continued in the statement.
While some people are complaining about their game time going to waste, others would be fine with just being able to play the game in the first place.
Many users who have older versions of the Xbox 360 (from roughly 2009 and before), have not been able to even play the normal mode of the game for a half an hour without having it crash on them. Rockstar Games has acknowledged this problem and has vowed to come up with a solution or at the very least a refund in the near future.
It is believed that the problem with older Xbox consoles lies in the fact that they don't have enough space in the data cache. GTA V requires 8GB to play, and the older models only shipped with 20GB, so clear out those data caches if you want to play
These glitches, however, have done little to slow down the behemoth that is GTA V. It took the title a mere three days to reach $1 billion in sales, smashing the previous record of 15 days. Though no exact numbers have been given, there is reason to believe that GTA V may already be among the top five selling games of all time.
