Carl Froch wants to defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) super middleweight title this year, but the Briton only has one possible opponent in mind -- Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Froch, who has not fought since his eighth-round knockout win against George Groves at Wembley Stadium in May last year, is being linked to several fighters, such as unbeaten middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin and Andre Ward, but the 37-year-old is not interested in facing them.

Froch said he sees no reason to face Golovkin, the reigning International Boxing Organization and WBA middleweight champion. He pointed out the 32-year-old Kazakh is not a pay-per-view fighter despite his impressive 31-0 record with 28 knockout victories.

When asked about facing Ward, Froch said he is not interested in facing the California native because he would need a knockout to win against his former foe and a fight against the unbeaten super middleweight will not be a good bout in terms of PPV numbers.

"I don't want to fight Andre Ward," Froch said via The Guardian. "I'm a fighter. I'm not bothered to go in there and say that Andre Ward, if I didn't knock him out, he would beat me on points. But that is not a big fight. American TV don't want to show him on box office. So why do I want to fight Andre Ward?"

Froch, who holds a 33-2 record with 24 knockouts, insisted the only fighter he is willing to face at this stage of his career is Chavez Jr. He said former middleweight champion will be a tough opponent, but Froch expressed confidence about his chances against the 28-year-old Mexican.

"Chavez is a big name. He's lost one fight in 51, he's got a massive Mexican and Latino-American following -- and I think I can beat him comfortably enough," Froch said. "I don't think it's an easy fight but business wise and don't forget that professional boxing is first and foremost a business."

And if he does not get a shot against Chavez in the near future, the four-time world champion said he will just decide to retire instead of considering other options for his next fight.

"Mark my words, if I don't fight Chavez Jr. in Las Vegas I will retire," Froch said via Daily Star. "I don't tell lies and I don't need to tell lies. I'm very, very truthful and honest. I wear my heart on my sleeve, and I tell you how it is. If that fight doesn't happen I will retire."
