Once again, Cristiano Ronaldo has won the 2014 FIFA Ballon d'Or Award, the announcement came on Monday.

It is Ronaldo's second consecutive year winning the prestigious award.

The 29-year-old from Portugal had himself quite a year.

At the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Ronaldo scored for his home country. Unfortunately for Portugal, they did not make it out of Group G, with the United States and Germany each qualifying for the knockout round.

Ronaldo has been incredible this La Liga season for Real Madrid, scoring a league-high 26 goals, 10 more than anyone else. Overall, Ronaldo found the net 52 times in 43 games with 17 assists in 2014.

Barcelona's own Lionel Messi is trying to win his fourth career Ballon d'Or Award. The 27-year-old Argentine scored 49 goals in 53 games with 17 assists in 2014.

Another player who had a great year was Manuel Neuer.

Neuer guided the German National Team to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Championship over Argentina in the finals. Neuer also won the Golden Glove award for best goalkeeper. Although a great player, it is very difficult for a goalkeeper to win the award.
