Apple held another media event yesterday, announcing the much awaited update to several of its devices.

From Apple's new computer operating system OS X Mavericks, to the new iPad Mini, new MacBook Pros and Mac Pros - every device had its own interesting new additions. However, among all the devices announced, one gadget stood out and had people buzzing: the iPad Air.
The fifth generation iPad is getting a revamped look and more powerful specs that will make any tablet user consider a purchase. According to Pop Culture Blog, Apple noted that over 170 million units of its tablet have been sold over a span of three and a half years. With the addition of the newly-named tablet, iPad Air, these numbers could grow.
Here are a few of the iPAd Air's new features:
Design
One of the main changes the Apple tablet went through is a change in design. While the iPad still dons the iconic look of the brand's handheld device - aluminum unibody and all - it is noticeably thinner and lighter. According to Apple's official iPad Air page, the device is only 7.5 millimeters thin - 20% thinner than its predecessors. It also has a thinner bezel, and only weighs 1 pound. That's 28% lighter than the iPad fourth generation's 1.4 pound weight.
Specs
The new iPad also boasts of more powerful features and specs. Packed with the same A7 chip as the iPhone 5S, the device "delivers killer performance", write the Apple site. With a 64-bit processor, the tablet offers twice the CPU and graphics performance than the previous version. Notably, even with all the power, the iPad Air still offers 10 hours of battery life.
The device is also built with a Retina Display, following other Apple devices like the MacBook Air. Apple also notes that even with a thinner bezel, the size of the display is the same - "2048-by-1536 resolution and over 3.1 million pixels", the brand wrote.
Connectivity
The tablet also features advance wireless specs that make the internet browsing experience of the device better. The iPad Air is packed with two antennas and MIMO (multiple-input, multiple-otput) technology. This new update allows download speeds of up to 300 Mbps, the Apple site wrote. Additionally, the Wi-Fi + Cellular version of the tablet offers more LTE bands for better connectivity to data networks around the world.
The iPad Air will be available online and at Apple Retail Stores by November 1 for $499.
