Eminem New Album 2013 Release Date, Song List & Review: MMLP2 Is 'More About The Nostalgia' Rapper Says
Fans are counting down: in less than two weeks, Eminem will release his highly-anticipated eighth studio album, "The Marshall Mathers LP 2," on November 5. Slim Shady talks about what his fans can expect from him this time.
"[It's] not necessarily a sequel, as much as it is a revisitation," he says during the recent interview of his new forthcoming project, which apparently is a follow-up to his 2000's original "The Marshall Mathers LP."
"So there's not gonna be, like, continuations of every old song on there or anything like that," the rapper adds. "To me, it's more about the vibe, and it's more about the nostalgia."
Eminem talks about how he has gone through the process of recording and scrapping dozens of extra songs. "Calling it 'The Marshall Mathers LP 2,' obviously I knew that there might be certain expectations," says Em. "I wouldn't want to call it that just for the sake of calling it that. I had to make sure that I had the right songs - and just when you think you got it, you listen and you're like, 'F---, man! I feel like it needs this or that.' to paint the whole picture."
Rick Rubin, who produced the rapper's first single "Berzerk," has played a great role in the production of the upcoming album alongside with Dr. Dre. "Getting with him was like, 'Holy shit!'" Eminem says of the executive producer of "MMLP2" and the Def Jam founder. "As many genres of music that he is able to f--- with, he's like Yoda. I couldn't do it. You sit me there with a rock group, I don't know the first f---king thing about banging on the drums."
Eminem has been working extremely hard to execute making his new album. "Aside from around the time of 'The Eminem Show,' when I was also doing the '8 Mile' movie and the soundtrack and score and s--- like that. This is probably the equivalent of that, but all focused on the record," says the "Rap God."
