As the day of Prince George's royal christening was arriving, many were curious and wondering what the Duchess of Cambridge, known for her classic and sophisticated style, would wear to the special gathering.

Yesterday, on October 23, Kate Middleton showed up to the Chapel Royal in St. James' Palace, wearing an ensemble that was formal, yet so fashion-forward. Her cream suit closely matched her three-months-old son's all-white Spitalfields silk-satin christening gown made by the Queen's couturier, Angela Kelly.

The brunette beauty looked ever so stunning in an ivory, crepe full skirt and matching ruffled peplum jacket by London-based couture label Alexander McQueen, which was an adaptation of a coatdress previously seen among Spring/Summer 2012 McQueen collections. Her elegant look was completed with one of her favorite accessories, a matching pillbox hat by Jane Taylor millinery, which costs more than $1,200. Middleton also wore her signature L.K. Bennett nude patent leather Sledge pumps, and citrine earrings by one of her preferred designers, Kiki McDonough.

Alexander McQueen, helmed by Sarah Burton, has become one of Kate Middleton's most trusted fashion brands. Her wedding gown also was created by Burton, and she has worn pieces by McQueen to many public events.

Kate's sister Pippa wore a custom-made ivory trapeze coat with pink blush trim and oyster silk lining over a blush lace dress by British label Suzannah Crabb. She also accessorized with a hand-dyed and beaded corsage pillbox hat by British milliner Edwina Ibbotson, shoes by Emmy, and a box clutch with a bunny clasp by Wilbur & Gussie.
