Mats Hummels has been linked to a move to Manchester United. The Red Devils are reportedly willing to spend up to £47 million to acquire Hummels, but the veteran defender insisted that he is not planning to leave Borussia Dortmund despite their recent struggles.

Reports indicated that Hummels might eventually decide to move to another team because Borussia Dortmund are not expected to qualify for next season's Champions League. When asked about those reports, Hummels insisted that he does not need to play in Champions League to be happy.

"The fight for the Champions League does not exist in my head," Hummels told German paper Die Welt via ESPN FC. "Fundamentally, I don't need to play Champions League to be happy. I don't know whether others see that differently."

Hummels admitted, though, that Borussia Dortmund might lose key players after the current season if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, but he expressed confidence that they will still be one of the strongest teams in Germany next season.

"Maybe we indeed lose players should we not qualify for Champions League, but what I can already tell you is that should we not lose 15 players at once, we'll still have a super team next season," Hummels added.

Aside from Hummels, midfielders Marco Reus and Ilkay Gundogan are also being linked to a move away from Borussia Dortmund this month or next summer.

According to reports, Real Madrid are strongly interested in Reus, who could reportedly trigger a lucrative £20 million release clause after the current season. Aside from Real Madrid, reports indicated that Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are also inquiring about Reus.

In an interview with the Daily Star, Borussia Dortmund general director Michael Zorc played down all transfer talks involving their club, insisting that they are determined to keep Reus, Hummels and Gundogan despite strong interests from several clubs.

"It would seem that we constantly have 17 players on the verge of moving to Real Madrid or Manchester United," Zorc said via Daily Star. "We have been putting up with this kind of rumors on a weekly basis for the past 4 years now. But this at least confirms that we are working well."
