World Series 2013 Live Stream: St. Louis Cardinals vs. Boston Red Sox Game 4 Live Score, TV Schedule, Statistics & Boxscores Information
The St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Red Sox will find themselves back on the field, 24 hours after an obstruction call gave the home team a crucial walk-off victory in Game 3 of the World Series. On Sunday, the Red Sox are in a make-or-break situation as they face a potential 1-3 deficit in Game 4 of their championship series at Busch Stadium.
Sox Leaning on Buchholz
In the aftermath of the 5-4 loss to the Cards on Saturday, Red Sox manager John Farrell decided to go all in on veteran hurler Clay Buchholz, who is nursing a bum right shoulder.
"We go into (Sunday) thinking that he's going to give us what he's been in the postseason," Farrell told the Press ahead of Sunday's match. "That might be a little bit shorter of an outing than maybe we've seen back in April and May, but he's also been very effective."
Buchholz, who went 12-1 with 1.74 ERA and 96 strikeouts in the regular-season, has been bothered with his flaring shoulder throughout the postseason. Nevertheless, the Sox hurler is 100 percent sure that nobody in this series are playing with healthy limbs.
"I've said it a couple of times this year -- I don't think anybody, especially at this time of the season, is 100 percent," said Buchholz, who looks to finally deliver a gem of a performance after coming up with a 5.40 ERA in three postseason games.
"Giving the team a chance to win, that's my goal," Buchholz "And to trust your pitches and to throw them to the best of your ability, that's what I've worked up to up to this point, and that's where I'm at," he added.
After Tripping, Cardinals Wants 3-1 Lead
Farrell admitted Game 3 results was a hard pill to swallow, considering that the Red Sox had a chance to steal the win after going down early in the see-saw game. Still, the Red Sox manager believed that controversy has no room in this series.
"Tough way to have a game end, particularly of this significance," Farrell said. "When Craig trips over him, I guess by the letter of the rule, you could say it's obstruction. Like I said, that's a tough pill to swallow."
Meanwhile, the Cards will try to get a commanding a 3-1 series lead for a chance to finish the job on their home field on Monday. St. Louis will be banking on Lance Lynn, who went 2-1 with a 5.40 ERA in two starts and one relief appearance for the Cards this postseason.
"I think he's one of the guys that gets overlooked as we start talking about the youth of the staff," manager Mike Matheny said. "Lance is a guy that won 18 games for us last season and has done well in the postseason, and he does carry himself like a guy that's been around a while. But I believe he's still a young pitcher and still learning, still adapting."
