Sofia Castro, Mexican President Enrique Peña's stepdaughter, may still be experiencing backlash after those controversial Ayotzinapa comments.

In late 2014, the young actress was asked to talk about the missing students from a Mexican teachers college that had been reported as dead while on the red carpet for Premios Arlequin. She responded in a way that many felt was insensitive.

"I don't think this is the time to talk about this," she said, according to People En Español. "All of Mexico is in mourning because of what's happened, but I don't think right now is the moment. Right now, we are here to enjoy ourselves and for me to get my award."

It was previously reported that Castro would star in upcoming telenovela "Amores Con Trampa," but now, there are rumors that Angelica Rivera's daughter has lost the role, according to Radio Formula.

The rumor has not been confirmed yet, but if she did get cut from "Amores Con Trampa," then she will no longer play Jose Eduardo Derbez's love interest.

Castro is reportedly very sad to have lost the starring role. 

The Emilio Larrosa-produced show is set to star Itati Cantoral, Ernesto Laguardia and Eduardo Yanez, reports TV y Novelas.

Castro and her family have been very publicly scrutinized for the last few months.

Castro's mother, La Gaviota, has been criticized for a lavish $7 million mansion she claims to have purchased with the money she made during her acting career.

Other celebrities have expressed doubt.

In an interview with "El Gordo y La Flaca," Victoria Ruffo, who has been working in telenovelas since the 1970s and had more starring roles than the Mexican First Lady, said she didn't buy La Gaviota's comments.

"Well, I don't think we make too much money," she said. "I've been working for 38 years, and I've saved part of what I have earned."

Ruffo explained that she was taught to be conservative with her money, but it still doesn't mean she could afford a multi-million dollar mansion.

"It's not Hollywood," she explained.
