NFL October 27 Week 8 Scores, Results, Winners: Giants Win Second Straight; Jets Lose by 40; Chiefs Remain Undefeated
In one of the wildest weekends we've seen in the NFL so far this year, the Jets lost by 40, the Raiders managed to beat the Steelers, and somehow the New York Giants are only two games out of first place in the NFC East.
Much of the weekend's festivities were an extension of the momentum built the previous week, such as when the Giants earned their first victory before heading to Philadelphia to earn a second win in a row. In Denver, where the now-second-place Broncos were coming off their first loss of the year to find themselves trailing the Washington Redskins, a late surge finally allowed Denver to break away with a 45-21 victory. In Detroit, the first-place Cowboys were looking to build upon their lead in the NFC East. Instead, the Lions stormed back and escaped with a thrilling 31-30 win.
Receiver Calvin Johnson had a whopping 329 yards in the air for Detroit as the Lions came from behind to overcome a ten-point deficit in the final quarter. Lions fans were losing hope and started to leave the stadium, but they were the only ones who were done. The team was just finally kicking into gear at that point en route to a team-high 24-point fourth quarter.
"Even our fans didn't think we could pull this one out," quarterback Matthew Stafford said. "They were leaving, but we knew we could do it."
Elsewhere, the Chiefs managed to remain undefeated with a 23-17 win over the Browns; the Patriots held off the Dolphins to stay afloat atop the AFC East; and the San Francisco 49ers destroyed the winless Jaguars in a 42-10 rout.
The NFL continues to shake things up with every passing week. At this point, who knows what the next week has in store for us? A Jaguars victory and a Chiefs loss, perhaps? Heading into week 9, the league is still up for grabs.
