Grand Theft Auto 5 Online Gameplay: Beware! PC Torrent File Is a Virus
Can't get enough of Grand Theft Auto V? Neither can we. Let's take a look at some of the latest news surrounding the latest blockbuster offering from Rockstar Games.
For starters, GTA V had an impressive showing at the annual video game celebration, the Golden Joystick Awards. The game was able to lock down the coveted prize of being Game of the Year, eeking ahead of the zombie thriller The Last of Us.
The Last of Us had been the favorite to win such an award earlier in the year, as it amazed gamers worldwide this past summer with its stunning graphics and intricate storytelling. GTA V, however, was a force that could not be stopped.
Don't feel too bad for The Last of US, however. It still won the Best Newcomer Award as well as Best Storytelling. Naughty Dog, the studio that produced The Last of Us, also won the Studio of the Year Award.
The latest incarnation of the Grand Theft Auto series saw unparalleled sales as soon as it released last month. Within three days of its release, GTA V had already reached $1 billion in sales, easily outpacing the previous record of fifteen days to reach the same amount of revenue.
Praise for the game hasn't just been from the fans either. Critics the world over have given consistently impressive ratings for GTA V, often assigning perfect scores to the title. Famed Japanese video game magazine Famitsu gave it a coveted 40/40, making it only the second Western video game to receive a perfect score from the magazine.
That doesn't mean that GTA V hasn't encountered some bumps and bruises along the way. Some Xbox 360 users have complained that the game doesn't work on older versions of the console, a problem most likely due to insufficient data cache space on the console. There have also been criticisms from human and animal rights activists upset over the depictions of violence towards humans and animals in the game.
There has also been recent news of an impressive looking virus out there for those attempting to illegally torrent the still-unreleased PC version of the game to their computers. As WCCFTech explains:
"We recently started getting reports from our readers that they had discovered a leaked version of GTA V PC. Being a PC dedicated site, naturally our suspicions were immediately aroused since GTA V PC is one of the most under wraps industry secrets of R* and a leak of that magnitude would be a game changer. Still we investigated the matter and we were surprised and dismayed to discover an unbelievably legit looking file - but one that was quite obviously a scam. The reason? It was infected."
