Speed-running through a game eliminates all the need for time-consuming video game sessions. For example, one YouTube user has successfully beaten Super Mario World for Super Nintendo in just minutes.

In a video, YouTube user Minecraft SethBling showed how he basically re-wrote the code to Super Mario World for Super Nintendo, Kotaku reports.

Super Mario World is the 1991 Super Nintendo game that had Mario and Yoshi working together to defeat Bowser and save Princess Toadstool. In total, there are seven worlds to conquer to get through the game.

Minecraft SethBling does not need to go to all seven worlds, however. In fact, he only needs to briefly play the first level through a glitch known as "credits warp." In the video, Minecraft SethBling does his best to explain how he is manipulating the game so that he can fast-forward to the end credits, basically "beating the game," without actually beating it.

The users also shows us how moving shells and a p-box actually changes the RAM in the game. He places shells in exact coordinates in the level and explains how important it is for him to place them in that spot.

After a few maneuvers and some shell-placing, Minecraft SethBling was right. The screen flashes, and it takes us to the end credits of the game, where the characters are introduced by name.

Minecraft SethBling does his speed-running on a Super Nintendo console and not on a PC emulator like Bluestacks

This glitch was first discovered by a user on Twitch.tv by the name of Jeffw356. Jeff used a PC emulator, so it looks like Minecraft SethBling has the record for the quickest completion of Super Mario World on a console.

Minecraft SethBling's video is about nine minutes with commentary. Later, he tries to beat his own record; he is successful and finishes Super Mario World with this same glitch in less than five minutes.

Now, obviously, with use of glitching and accurate shell placement, Minecraft SethBling did not actually beat the game. But, he did find a way to get to the end.

What do you think about glitches in video games? Are they bad or good for games?
