Top-seeded Novak Djokovic will resume his title quest in the sixth day of the 2015 Australian Open at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.

Djokovic, who is considered the strongest favorite to win the title this year, will go up against 31st seed Fernando Verdasco of Spain in the first match of the second session at the main arena, which is scheduled to start Saturday morning, 3 a.m. EST.

The top-seeded Serb has been playing well as he has yet to drop a set in the tournament, winning convincingly against Aljaz Bedene of Slovenia in the first round and Andrey Kuznetsov of Russia in the second round.

Djokovic, who is aiming to win his fifth Australian Open title, will be a heavy favorite heading into his third-round match against Verdasco, who scored a straight-set win against Go Soeda of Japan in the second round.

Meanwhile, defending champion Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland will also continue his title defense when he collides with unseeded Jarkko Nieminen of Finland.

Wawrinka, who defeated Rafael Nadal in a thrilling final showdown in last year's Australian Open, defeated Marsel Ilhan of Turkey and Marius Copil of Romania in straight sets en route to the third round of competition.

"I'm happy with my game in general. To win two first matches in three sets, it's great," Wawrinka said in a news conference on Thursday. "I'm playing great tennis. I'm practicing well, feeling well the ball. As I say, if you want to get far in the tournament, it can be two long weeks. So you need to be ready to have some up and down."

The Wawrinka-Nieminen match will be the third match of the first session at the Rod Laver Arena. The first match of the first session between Varvara Lepchenko and Agnieszka Radwanska is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. EST.

Before Wawrinka takes court, women's top seed Serena Williams will also see action against 26th seed Elina Svitolina of Ukraine. Williams has not a dropped a set in the tournament, winning convincingly against Alison Van Uytvanck and Vera Zvonareva in the first two rounds, respectively.
