Colorado Prisoner Sues NFL for $88B Over Referee Overturning Catch by Dallas Cowboys' Dez Bryant: Commissioner Roger Goodell and More Named
A prisoner in Colorado is so mad about the Dallas Cowboys losing to the Green Bay Packers on a controversial call that he is suing the NFL for $88 billion, Yahoo reports.
The suit stems from the Cowboys' wide receiver Dez Bryant's catch near the Packers' goal line. The referees overturned the catch and the Packers were able to move on in the playoffs.
Terry Hendrix, however, thinks the call by game referee Gene Steratore was negligent and reckless. In his handwritten petition to the courts, Hendrix names Steratore, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and NFL Vice President of Officiating Dean Blandino in the suit. He is asking for the sum of $88,987,654,321.88 for the overturned call and is filing the suit "on behalf of the Dallas Cowboys fans, Dez Bryant (No. 88 on Dallas), and all people in or from the sovereign republic of Texas."
Hendrix says Blandino, Goodell and Steratore are wrong, and his suit will prove that [they] "have stolen a victory from the plaintiffs, because the Cowboys offense would have perfectly created an 'Autobahn' for DeMarco Murray to drive into the end zone for the score and victory."
While it's true the Cowboys probably would have scored on the very next play from about the one yard line, the NFL explained the definition of a catch, and unfortunately for Cowboys' fans and Hendrix, the Cowboys did not complete the process of a catch.
It is highly likely this case will be thrown out.
This is not the first time Hendrix has filed an outrageous case. He once tried suing Barclays Bank for purchasing mortgage backed securities. That case was thrown out as frivolous.
What do you think about this lawsuit? Is it a waste of time for the courts?
