Amid growing concerns about problems with iPhone batteries, Apple said there has been a manufacturing defect and that some phones are going to be replaced.

We recently discovered a manufacturing issue affecting a very limited number of iPhone 5s devices that could cause the battery to take longer to charge or result in reduced battery life," Apple spokesperson Teresa Brewer said to the New York Times. "We are reaching out to customers with affected phones and will provide them with a replacement phone."

The tech giant has been plagued by negative publicity in recent weeks. First it was reported that the company was scaling back on the production of the iPhone 5c and this week Apple said it does not expect to live up to the expectations that analysts had predicted for the holiday season. Apple said it is predicting a profit margin between 36.5 to 37.5 percent in the holiday season even though analysts thought it would be 37.9. Brian Marshall, an analyst at ISI Group, said "people are a little concerned about the gross margin outlook."

Furthermore, the company has had to deal with a growing list of complaints from customers who are not satisfied with the iOS 7 operating system. The new operating system, which was just released in September, has led to complaints of slower phones, motion sickness, battery drainage, and the list goes on.

Apple has already made several changes and updates for the operating system. The iOS 6, on the other hand, experienced a much smoother release and the company never had to update the operating system for over a month after its release.
