'The Real Housewives of Atlanta' Season 7 Cast News: Nene Leakes Accused of Stealing ‘Girl Bye’ Slogan From T-Shirt Line
Tees in the Trap -- a clothing line that describes itself as "a black-owned family business that creates tees referencing pop culture and the urban girl experience" -- is accusing "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star NeNe Leakes of stealing their "Girl, Bye" slogan for her own t-shirt line, Necole Bitchie reports.
Tees in the Trap recently issued a letter to Necole Bitchie and other media outlets to shed light on what they are describing as Leakes' bullying and illegal activity. Tees in the Trap is claiming that it had already been selling t-shirts with the slogan "Girl, Bye" long before Leakes coined the phrase on "RHOA." Trap is accusing Leakes of stealing the slogan from them to create her own line of t-shirts.
Upon discovering that Leakes created her own line of "Girl, Bye" t-shirts, Tees in the Trap allegedly stopped Leakes from selling t-shirts that looked exactly like their line.
However, the company claims that Leakes continued to sell her "Girl, Bye" t-shirts using a different font and sent them a cease and desist letter, "saying that we had no right to have her shirt taken down and since she's more popular and made the saying 'Girl Bye' famous that she has the exclusive right to use it on shirts and we don't, so we need to take ours down."
"NO ACTUAL legal defense other than, she's more famous," Tees in the Trap continued.
Tees in the Trap concluded the letter threatening to sue Leakes if she continues to "bully" the company.
Leakes has yet to publicly respond to the company's open letter.
Prior to Leakes' "Girl Bye" t-shirt scandal, it was reported that Leakes' son Bryson Bryant was also in legal trouble.
On Jan. 13, Bryant was ordered by the court to spend six weeks in rehab to recover from his apparent alcohol and drug addiction. Prior to his court-ordered rehab stint, Bryant was arrested for shoplifting, marijuana possession, driving with a suspended license and various other illegal activities dating all the way back to 2010.
