PS4 vs Xbox One Specs, Pre-Orders & Sales: EA Exec Predicts Sony & Microsoft Will Sell Ten Million Consoles
Electronic Arts is expecting big numbers in the new upcoming video game platforms and the company thinks there will be ten million combined units sold prior to the end of March.
"When I talked to our friends at both Sony and Microsoft, and I'm trying to get some indications in the numbers that are going to be available for sale by the end of our fiscal year on March 31 and I aggregate them, I think I can squint and see 10 million units combined, very easily," COO Peter More said.
"Both Sony and Microsoft are proposing that this could be their best launches ever as regards their production numbers and their ability to globalise this business quickly. So we feel bullish about our ability of having five truly next-gen titles available for that."
EA's CEO, Andrew Wilson, suggested that the two consoles are so tight that the market will depend on each other in terns of pricing and sales in the future.
"Both companies here have pieces of hardware that feel to me, certainly, from my experience, that the pricing can come down pretty aggressively over the next few years," he said.
Although Sony said that it expects to sell approximately five million consoles by March, Microsoft and the Xbox One team have not yet done so. The Xbox One had a bit of a late start in announcing the release date and as a result the platform is going to be released a week after the initial PS4 release.
