The Miami Heat suffered their second straight loss at the hands of the Brooklyn Nets, 101-100.

The Heat tried to push for a comeback in the dying minutes of their first matchup against the revamped Nets; however, backed up by Paul Pierce's smart plays the Heat fell short by a mere point to grab their second win this season.

Coming off a loss against the Philadelphia 76ers, the Heat seemed ready to bounce back and grab a win tonight. With Dwayne Wade back from a sore knee, the first five of the Heat were again complete.

The first quarter was dominated by the Bigs, as Chris Bosh and Brook Lopez scored top points for their teams, with seven apiece. The Heat, however, struggled on the field, shooting 33.3% against the Net's 62.5%. This led to an early lead for Brooklyn, 27-18.

The second quarter had LeBron James and Wade taking over, as the two scored a combined 14 points in the Q - Wade shot 6-6 free throws. The team's shooting also improved to 64.7%, while Nets dropped to 47.4%. The first half ended in a tie, 47-47.

The third saw the Nets zoomed to an 11-point led with Pierce in the wheel, scoring 11. Aside from containing James to 1-4 shooting for a lowly 4-point output in all 12 minutes, the Heat also dropped to 31.3% shooting from the field, 0-3 for three, and a dismal 6 rebounds the entire quarter.

The Nets kept the lead going until the final two minutes of the fourth, when the Heat made a surge to keep the game within shooting distance. With 50 seconds left in the game, the Heat were able to close in to just a 5-point deficit.

The Heat had another chance to bag the W, after LeBron shot a three with 4.7 seconds left. However, the impressive clutch free throw shooting of the Nets sealed the win for them.

Pierce and Joe Johnson scored 19 points each, with Paul shooting 8-8 and Joe 5-6 from the free throw line. Notably, all the players fielded on court contributed in the scoring department. On the other hand, Miami only had 8 players scoring - James scored 26, Wade with 21, Chris Bosh had 17, and Ray Allen and Mario Chalmers each had 12 points.

The Nets' win is their first against the Miami Heat since March 20, 2009, NBA.com reports. As for Miami, this is their first two-straight losses since January 8 and 10.
