The Puerto Rican alternative hip hop duo, Calle 13, comprised of the stepbrothers and bandmates, Eduardo "Visitante" Jose Cabra Martinez and Rene "Residente" Perez Joglar, has an independent album in the works, and the release of their upcoming single drops in little over a week.

Their first single on the untitled album will debut Nov. 12. With a new album, comes idea, and during an interview, Cabra made a comment regarding the single, "We're looking at different platforms. Maybe we will give it away for free." He, then, continued to say that perhaps they would change the release date of the song from Nov. 12 to Nov. 13 to reflect the number in the pair's moniker. The "very short new song" is involved and slightly different than other music that they've produced.

Calle 13 hasn't released an album since their 2010 release of "Entren Los Que Quieran." So it suffices to say that fans will be relieved, and the upcoming album will more than excite. The untitled album promises to show fans something new, including the aforementioned debut track, which is a collaboration between Calle 13, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange and Twitter followers, who provided questions and ideas to the band. Perez stated that Calle 13 planned to take the ideas proposed by fans and "manipulate them ourselves just as media does to us."

The winner of 19 Latin Grammy Awards and two Grammy Awards, Calle 13 continuously reached the top of Billboard's Top 10 Latin Albums charts with every album. And, the upcoming album will undoubtedly meet the others up there, even if it isn't released under Sony Music Latin.

Perez once expressed his discontent with Sony in the past, in a lyric from "Calma, Pueblo," when he said: "My label isn't Sony, my label is the people." The decision to go independent is an indication of the pair's evolution as artists. The upcoming album is due out in Spring of next year.
