Puppy Bowl 2015 Date & Live Stream: Team Ruff Will Go Head-to-Head With Team Fluff During Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl XI
Animal lovers will be in for a real treat as Team Ruff faces off with Team Fluff for the championship at this year's Puppy Bowl.
Although the Puppy Bowl can't compete with the more than 111.5 million people who are expected to watch Super Bowl XLIX this Sunday, it has become renowned for being one of the most adorable sporting events of the year.
From 3-5 p.m. on Feb. 1, Animal Planet will air Puppy Bowl XI, featuring 55 of the toughest and cutest pups from shelters and rescue groups across the United States and Puerto Rico.
The object of the game is for the puppies to score touchdowns by carrying chew toys across their 10-by-19-foot indoor football field into the end zone.
"If you think it's easy to keep score in puppy football, oh man, spend five minutes in my shoes," said the official Puppy Bowl referee, Dan Schachner, to The Washington Post.
There are four quarters in the game that run for about 15 minutes each. However, "there's no timer on the field," since "these puppies don't respond well to time," said the ref.
This year, the game will include new features like competitive scoring and a new scoreboard with real-time updates, reports PennLive.com. Fans will also be able to partake in the fun by sharing photos of themselves with their pets on Instagram using the hashtag #PuppyBowl and voting for the Most Valuable Puppy at animalplanet.com/puppybowl.
Feline lovers will also be delighted as 25 cats, which are also up for adoption, take over the halftime show. However, the main star will be Internet sensation Katty Furry, who is known for playing Katy Perry covers.
"If you haven't seen a cat perform a Katy Perry song, you will, and you will enjoy it. I can guarantee you it's memorable," Schachner said.
Meanwhile, five Nigerian dwarf goats will be featured as the cheerleaders.
According to Schachner, "It's the most exciting time of the year."
Watch the Puppy Bowl XI via live stream on Sunday, Feb. 1, from 3-5 p.m. ET, at the Animal Planet website.
