Super Bowl 2015 Commercials: Danny Trejo Talks Signing on to Play Marcia Brady for Snickers Ad [Video]
Danny Trejo is mostly known as being usually the villain or the tough guy in movie. In Sunday's Super Bowl ad for Snickers, however, Trejo was cast as Marcia Brady from the popular 1970s show "The Brady Bunch."
Trejo, who is 70 years old, appears in the ad, looking angry and tough. The ad, however, is supposed to show the beautiful, popular Marcia Brady.
The ad begins with Trejo sitting in front of a mirror, brushing his hair violently and counting strokes.
Carol Brady knocks on Trejo's door and calls "Marcia!"
Trejo says, "Shut up, mom!"
Trejo then complains that Peter hit him in the nose with a football.
"I am sure it was an accident, sweetheart," Carol says.
Trejo, still in his tough guy act, says, "An eye for an eye, that's what Dad always said."
"I never said that, honey," Mike Brady says.
Next, Trejo hits a table with a hammer and says he's going to teach Peter a lesson for hitting him. Then, Carol offers a Snickers to Trejo.
"You get a little hostile when you're hungry," she advises.
Trejo takes a big bite of the Snickers and transforms into a happy and cheery Marcia.
On the stairs, a jealous Jan, played by Steve Buschemi, says the typical, "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia."
Carol says, "This isn't about you, Jan."
Buschemi says, "It never is!" and runs off to the bedroom.
Trejo was excited for appearance in this ad because he is used to being the bad guy, and now he got a change to play an innocent girl.
"My agent called me and said, 'Danny, I have a surprise for you. They want you to play Marcia Brady,'" Trejo told the Business Insider. "I've been nurturing a career of being a bad guy for 20 years, and [you want me to] play Marcia Brady."
Once Trejo learned he was going to be in a Snickers ad, he quickly agreed to the opportunity. His family laughed at him when they found out he was going to play Marcia.
Trejo said he had a crush on Florence Henderson, who played Carol Brady.
"Yes, I'll admit I was in love with the mom [Carol Brady]," Trejo said. "I had a crush."
