Aaron Rodgers Injury Update & Stats 2013: Green Bay Packers QB Confirms He Has 'Fractured Collarbone'
The Green Bay Packers feared the worst after their star quarterback went down with an injury on Monday night. The verdict on the injury is clear -- it is a broken collarbone -- but the timetable for Rodgers' return is uncertain at this point.
"I do have a fractured collarbone," Rodgers said on a radio show. "It's a significant injury. We'll know more about the severity and the timetable later this week."
One thing that appears to be for sure is that Rodgers won't be in a Packers uniform this weekend. Backup quarterback Seneca Wallace will pick up where he left off in a reserve role on Monday night, but the Packers hope this is only a short-term thing. Rodgers is a crucial part of Green Bay's success, but the team also wants to make sure they don't rush him back on the field.
"You can put yourself at greater risk for a worse injury if you go back out there," Rodgers added. "But I think most people know my personality and I'm going to try and be back as quick as I can."
Rodgers' teammates were quick to point out how important he is to the team.
"It's tough, obviously," left guard Josh Sitton said, according to the Chicago Tribune. "He's the best player on this football team. He's probably the best player in the NFL. So, it's tough, yeah, no doubt. We've just got to keep grinding. We've been in these positions before, we've just got to keep playing - no excuses."
The Packers will remain home next week when the squad will host the Philadelphia Eagles.
