Dumb and Dumber 2 Cast, News & Update: Sequel Films at Gwinnett Center; Director Talks About Possible Part 3
Filming for Dumb and Dumber To is already underway, with every taping draws fans closer to the much awaited sequel that took 20 years to make.
One of the most anticipated comedy sequels coming to theatres next year, Dumb and Dumber To will be reprised by the characters of Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels as Lloyd and Harry. Peter and Bobby Farrelly will also return as directors for the sequel.
So far, filming for the movie has taken place in Atlanta over the past month. Earlier in October, the crew made a stop at Marietta, ATL to shoot several shots at the Square. More recently, the production was taken to the Gwinnett Center Performing Arts Center, also in Atlanta.
Access Atlanta reports that the crew rented out the center for nine days, but filmed for only two days. Over 400 extras were hired to work on the production set for the film.
"The movie crew was great to work with," Selina Branstetter, manager of the Gwinnett Center, told the news site. "We were honored to have such a high caliber event filmed in our theater."
According to Access Atlanta, the movie also filmed at Duluth, Stone Mountain, Brookhaven, Cabbagetown and Grantville - all in Atlanta.
Aside from filming all over Atlanta, it seems like the crew has also paid extra effort on writing the film's script.
Talking about the film, Director Peter Farrelly told Huffington Post that also had help rearing the script.
"We were able to make it funnier and funnier and funnier," Farrelly said. "A couple of times, we got together with the Family Guy writers - we're good friends with those guys. They came in and we did a roundtable with them for a few days. They punched up specific jokes...I knew going in that this was a really solid script"
During the interview, Farrelly seemed to have also hinted that a part 3 may not be too far away.
"Things that are funny on paper are three times funnier when those guys are doing it," he noted. "When we put these two guys [Carrey and Daniels] together, I thought to myself, 'Why didn't we make eight of these things?' I believe that after this movie comes out, people are going to be like, 'You can't be serious? You have to do another one, because they're so good!'"
Dumb and Dumber To is expected to hit theatres by 2014.
