'Titanic' Actress Kate Winslet Talks About Weight Gain, Body 'Never' Being 'What It Was' After Having 3 Kids
During a recent interview with Harper's Bazaar U.K., Academy award-winning actress Kate Winslet said her two divorces have helped her childre.
ABC News reports Winslet, who was previously married to director Jim Threapleton and later to Sam Mendes, explained her two divorces were actually beneficial to her children, Mia, 14 and Joe, 11 because it taught them about struggle and shaped them as people.
When asked if she would change the fact she was divorced twice, Winslet said she would not.
"I would honestly say that I wouldn't change a thing," the actress said. "Even all the bad bits. They all matter, because those things shape who you are. And if you don't like who you are, well, then you're -------- really, aren't you?"
Another aspect of her life Winslet would not change is her figure. Winslet is now married to Ned RocknRoll with whom she has a 1-year-old son, Bear. Now that she is a mother of three, Winslet said she is no rush to lose her baby weight.
"Life is just too short to be spending time focusing on things like that," she explained. "I want to keep my health and my sanity and be well-fed and happy. I was nowhere near my pre-pregnancy shape when Bear was 12 weeks old. I was breastfeeding, apart from anything else, and hungry all the time -- and nor would I have wanted to be. And, do you know what? My body will never go back to what it was, and I wouldn't expect it to after three babies."
Winslet is currently 39 years-old and claims her age and wisdom have taught her to be less superficial in regards to her physical appearance.
"What is so gorgeous about being the age I am is that all the ridiculous angst I might once have felt about having a bit of cellulite, or being a bit puffy in the face, or whatever, has evaporated," she said. "I simply can't believe I ever spent any time wasting my life on that nonsense."
Winslet's Harper's Bazaar U.K. cover and cover story hits newsstands on Feb. 3.
