Lady Gaga, who is known for her eye-catching and eyebrow-raising wardrobe choices, explained why she dresses the way she does. The pop star says that her avant-garde ensembles are a way of coping with her "insanity."

She was in London over the last few weeks, and Gaga was spotted numerous times sporting outrageous and striking looks, including skull teeth mouthpiece, a giant hell-shaped parasol, a dress made from old skin, white-powdered face, just to name a few.

"It's how I deal with my insanity," the "Applause" singer said during her guest appearance on "The Graham Norton Show," which is scheduled to air this Friday. "From when I was young I had voices in my head, and for the longest time I was drinking and doing a lot of drugs, and it was the clothing and the artistry that saved me. I get sheer joy out of creativity, it's like a psychedelic experience for me."

Earlier this year, Lady Gaga's former style collaborator Nicola Formichetti ended the professional ties with the singer, because of "insane" and demanding nature of the role. Formichetti's ex-assistant Brandon Maxwell is the one who currently has the crucial role of putting together Gaga's shocking yet extravagant style.

"I'm too busy with [other commitments]," Maxwell admitted to WWD back in July. "I've done two albums with her, it's been like five years, and you know, I'm always going to be involved somehow, but I cannot do it every day. She changed 12 times a day; it's insane."
