PS4 Release Date, Games, Pre-Order News: GameStop Offers Trade-In Deals at PlayStation 4 Launch Event
GameStop will be holding a pre-launch event in anticipation of Sony's newest video game console, the PlayStation 4.
On Friday, GameStop announced that all of its United States stores will participate in the launch event on Nov. 10. During the event, gamers can trade in their old working system, including necessary add-ons and cables, and receive 90 percent extra credit to use toward their PS4.
"The trade in credit will result in the 90 percent bonus when applied to the PS4 console pre-order," GameStop said. "This does not qualify toward the games or accessories. Also, it reads as if customers are able to pre-order at this time, which is not the case. The trade-in offer can be applied to previously pre-ordered consoles."
Gamers who are not fortunate enough to have an extra working console to trade will still receive 30 percent extra credit when they trade in games, accessories and other items. Again, this credit can only be used toward purchasing a PS4.
"Utilizing GameStop's buy-sell-trade model, our customers will receive the most value for their current generation consoles and games, something no other retailer is offering," Darron Nielsen, GameStop senior merchant, said. "This allows consumers the ability to purchase a PS4 at a more affordable price, making it more accessible for gaming fans."
Some GameStop stores will also stay open throughout the evening of Nov. 14 until midnight, when the PS4 is officially launched. Contact GameStop to see if your favorite store is participating.
Currently, the PS4 is sold out at GameStop, GameSpot reports, so gamers will have to have pre-ordered their system if they hope to use their credit during the launch event.
GameStop will also hold a launch event for the Microsoft Xbox One, which will be released Nov. 22. Detail will arise closer to the launch date.
