Justin Bieber Tour Dates 2013: 'Believe' World Tour Brazil Results in Vandalism Charges for Singer
Justin Bieber is currently in South America for his ongoing "Believe" world tour. The pop star's stay in Brazil this week has caused such a tremendous international controversy, which includes him being charged for vandalism.
Bieber has lately been making headlines quite a lot: he was spotted allegedly leaving a brothel in Rio de Janeiro last weekend, in addition to storming off stage after being hit with a water bottle during a concert and getting filmed sleeping by a Brazilian woman.
Earlier this week, Rio police received a complaint about the "Bad Day" singer and his group of friends painting graffiti on a wall of the former Hotel Nacional in the Joá neighborhood, where Bieber was in town to perform. He reportedly had left the property just before the authorities arrived to the scene.
The photos of Justin Beiber in action were publicized, and he has officially been charged for vandalism. The 19-year-old singer explained that he was originally given permission by Rio's city hall to do graffiti on a different wall, however he felt that the area was too dangerous. He consequently picked other spot, which he assumed that the former hotel building was abandoned.
It is illegal and a crime to deface buildings in Brazil, which could lead to a fine and jail time up between three months to one year. Justin Bieber was charged yesterday, November 9, after local authorities held a three-day testimony and hearing from everyone involved. As a result, he will have to pay a fine but will not be arrested. It will take at least 30 days for the judge to determine the cost of the fine.
Justin Bieber will be performing two shows in Buenos Aires this weekend.
