ABC 'The View' TV Cast: Rosie O’Donnell Leaving Show After Five Months to Focus on Children Following Split
It's been five months since she's returned to the panel, and now Rosie O'Donnell is already gearing up to leave "The View" following the recent split with her wife, Michelle Rounds, ABC News reports.
Page Six said O'Donnell and Rounds split last week, and since the breakup, O'Donnell has chosen to quit the show to focus on her children.
O'Donnell has yet to publicly confirm the news. However, her rep, Cindi Berger confirmed Rosie's decision to Page Six, explaining the comedian and her wife have been separated for some time but have recently decided to officially end their relationship.
Berger added next week will mark O'Donnell's last appearances on the show.
"I can confirm that Rosie and her wife Michelle split in November," Berger said. "Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first. ABC has been wonderfully understanding and supportive of her personal decision to leave 'The View.' Next week will be her last."
ABC issued a heartfelt statement about O'Donnell's exit and overall contribution to its daytime show.
"Rosie is an immensely talented star who comes in each and every morning brimming with ideas, excitement and passion for the show," the network said in a statement. "When she told us that she wanted to exit 'The View,' we respected and understood her desire to put her well-being and her family first."
And while O'Donnell will no longer be an official panelist on "The View," ABC confirmed O'Donnell would appear on the show as a guest host from time to time. In addition, O'Donnell will also make several guest appearances on ABC Family's "The Fosters."
"The View" co-hosts Nicolle Wallace, Rosie Perez and Whoopi Goldberg have yet to publicly comment on O'Donnell's departure.
