iPhone 6 Release Date Rumors & Features: Is Apple Developing a Pair of Large iPhones With Curved Screens?
Although the iPhone has undergone some changes in size in recent releases, the next iPhone may look completely different.
According to several reports, Apple is again preparing two new iPhones, but this time they will feature curved screens. As expected, the screen will also be larger than previous iPhones. The phones that are reported to be currently in development have 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screens.
The move comes after Samsung and LG Electronics released a curved-screen phone. This seems like yet another move that Apple has made in response to its competitors. The tech giant didn't release two iPhones at the same time until the other companies did.
The Wall Street Journal reported last week that the tech companies believe that introducing these curved screens is a way to introduce the idea before doing even more.
"...the companies consider the curved screens a first step in creating truly flexible displays that can be folded or manipulated like a piece of paper," the Journal reported.
Along with the iPhone 5s and 5c, Apple also released a new operating system in iOS 7, which has received mixed reviews so far.
Apple surprised analysts late last month when the company provided a much bleaker outlook to the holiday season than what was expected. According to the USA Today, Apple's gross profit margin of 36.5 percent to 37.5 percent in the fiscal fourth quarter is clearly lower than the 37.9 percent that was predicted by the analysts.
Apple has struggled with the lower-budget iPhone 5c since its release and the sales have not matched that of the iPhone 5s. Apple seemed desperate with the iPhone 5c when they launched a heavy advertising campaign in which they overwhelmingly marketed the iPhone 5c and not the 5s.
