Trivia Crack iOS & Android App Goes Global, Becomes Top Game in United Kingdom
Trivia Crack, the highly addictive smartphone game that for weeks has topped free-download charts in the United States, is now also taking Europe by storm, Fansided reported.
The application, which is available for both the iPhone's iOS and Google's Android operating systems, is now the top trivia game in the United Kingdom. It has also invaded the Continent, where players in Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Portugal and Spain have picked it as their top download.
"Since adapting Trivia Crack for English-speaking audiences in mid-2014, we have quickly discovered that there is high demand from hardcore and casual app gamers alike for a fun, insightful trivia game in the European countries," said Maximo Cavazzani, the head of Trivia Crack maker, Etermax, in a statement.
"With 38 million users already playing Trivia Crack in the (United States), we are thrilled to be seeing the same enthusiasm from gamers in the (United Kingdom) in such a short period of time."
In the United States, Trivia Crack has been the most downloaded app for iPhone every day since Dec. 2, 2014 -- except for Christmas Day, according to AppAnnie.com. And having risen to the top spot on Dec. 13, 2014, the multiplayer quiz has maintained that status for almost two consecutive months.
The game pits friends (or strangers) against each other to compete in six different categories -- science, entertainment, art, geography, sports and history. Each field has a corresponding character, and the game is won by being the first to obtain them all.
"It's addicting," player Jennifer Gonzalez told the Columbus Dispatch. "It locks you in."
The 40-year-old accountant said the questions vary widely in their degree of difficulty.
"Some are like Einstein wrote the question," she said, "while others are like a child wrote it."
Her son, 14-year-old Greg Davda, was the first in the family to learn about Trivia Crack, and he asked Gonzalez to download the game, the woman said. Two months later, Greg had moved on to other applications -- but Gonzalez remains hooked.
"Work is really getting in the way," she joked.
