Beyonce's Grammy rendition of "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" was recently slammed by Grammy viewers who felt that R&B singer Ledisi should have performed the song instead.

Zap2it reports that "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" is a gospel song originally sung by Mahalia Jackson. Ledisi portrayed Jackson in the critically acclaimed MLK film "Selma" and sang the song in the movie.

When the Grammy Awards opted to close out the show with a "Selma"/civil rights tribute, many viewers naturally felt that Ledisi should have performed since she was actually involved in the movie and not Beyonce, says Zap2it.

In addition to the Grammy viewers, Ledisi also expressed her disappointment over not being chosen to perform at the Grammys.

Ledisi spoke to Entertainment Tonight after the Grammys and said she "had no clue" why Beyonce was chosen over her to perform the song.

"What I will say and what I'm excited about is that I had the pleasure of playing an iconic figure in Selma, and the song, 'Take My Hand, Precious Lord,' it's been going on forever," she explained, adding, "Then, I was able to portray and sing my version of the song, and now we have Beyonce. Her generation will now know the song, so I'm a part of history. "I look it at like that instead of looking at it as a negative."

John Legend and Common, who recently won an Oscar for their "Selma" theme song "Glory," performed their Academy award winning song following Beyonce's performance.

Being that they were involved in "Selma," Entertainment Tonight asked them why they chose Beyonce over Ledisi and Legend responded, "You don't really say no to Beyonce if she asks to perform with you."

Legend explained that Beyonce approached them to do an intro to their performance and they obliged.

ET reports that in addition to taking over Ledisi's performance, Beyonce also took home the Best R&B Performance Grammy that Ledisi was also nominated for.
