Typhoon Haiyan News Update: Donations for Philippines Accepted Via iTunes
Apple Inc showed its heart for charity as the tech giant started collecting donations to be given to the super typhoon Haiyan victims in the Philippines through the American Red Cross.
It was through the company's homepage that their relief efforts were highlighted which allows users to donate through iTunes. Anyone can use either their debit or credit cards to render help to the devastated Filipinos in the areas that were hit the hardest. Before clicking the "donate" button, there are six donation fee options to choose from as low as $5 to as big as $200.
According to the ValueWalk report, the US and the UK will join hands to make sure that the much needed aid will be received by thousands who immediately need it.
Time Techland recalls how Apple Inc has showed similar charitable efforts to help victims of such natural tragedies. It was in 2011 when the company also partnered with Red Cross to raise money for the affected victims of Superstorm Sandy. Figures said that the amount they raised reached about $2.5 million back then, all through the iTunes donations and from the company's workers.
Now, this recent campaign for typhoon Haiyan victims still has no particular date of when the donations will end.
As for the maintenance of the privacy of each iTunes user who will choose to donate, Apple will only send an email to serve as acknowledgement receipt of the amount the user donated. According to Apple Inc, the donation prompt will read just like below:
"Your gift to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief will support disaster relief efforts to help those affected by disasters such as Superstorm Sandy. Your support will enable the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to victims of all disasters."
Extend a simple form of help to reach out to the heartbroken Filipinos out there, no matter how far.
