Windows 10 for phones is now available for certain phones in its preview version.

TheNextWeb reports to take part in the preview version of Windows 10, users will need to have one of the following phones: Lumia 630, 635, 636, 638, 730 or 830. 

In the new Windows 10 for phones, users will notice the following new features:

  • Full-sized wallpapers on the Start screen;
  • Three rows of Quick Actions in the Action center (previous Windows had only one);
  • Better speech-to-text capabilities. Users will be able to use it for any data box. When users are speaking words will appear as they are talking. The software is even smart enough to recognize the difference between "too" and "two";
  • A better Photos app. The app will partner with users' OneDrive app to keep all photos centrally located, even those they took on other devices or that were stored on their computers.

This preview of Windows 10 for phones will give Windows users the first look at the new Project Spartan browser. This new browser is supposed to be a rival to Google's Chrome browser.

Fans of Microsoft Office will have to wait a few weeks to see the updated versions of those programs. Mail and Calendar will also be delayed until a future preview release.

Those who are part of the Insider Program are getting the first look at the new Windows 10 for phones. They will continue receiving over the air updates of future preview versions all the way until the full version comes out. If they wish to stop participating in the test, they can downgrade back to the previous OS, VentureBeat reports.

The messaging experience on Windows phones is about to get more exciting too. Skype will be built into the Messaging app, meaning users can start up video chats instantly during a text conversation.

Microsoft expects more phones to be capable of running the preview version of Windows 10 soon. The list will grow slowly at first, but more will be added, they said.

According to Digital Trends, Microsoft has yet to reveal the official public release date for Windows 10 for phones.
