Just as when the issue about his positive drug test before UFC 183 is starting to cool down, Anderson Silva is facing scrutiny again after reportedly failing another drug test related to his fight against Nick Diaz last month.

MMA Junkie revealed the former Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight champion tested positive for banned substance in another drug test.

"Multiple sources close to the situation on Wednesday confirmed to MMAjunkie that Silva failed a second drug test in relation to UFC 183," MMA Junkie said. "The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the matter."

UFC was rocked by another controversy earlier this month as Silva tested positive for steroids drostanolone and androstane during an out-of-competition test conducted on Jan. 9. Previous reports indicated the Brazilian mixed martial arts superstar also underwent similar tests on Jan. 19 and Jan. 31.

Earlier this week, MMA Fighting reported that the Jan. 19 samples from Silva came out clean, and the negative result could affect the sanction to be handed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission to Silva in March or April.

According to MMA Junkie, the date of the second failed test is unknown at this point, but they have already clarified that the new report is not about a "B" sample submitted by Silva but a separate one on a separate date.

MMA Junkie added they have reached out to NSAC to clarify the report, but the athletic commission did not respond.

Earlier this month, Silva, who scored a unanimous decision win against Diaz in his return bout from a long layoff because of a gruesome leg injury, denied using performance-enhancing drug, reiterating he has always been an advocate for clean sport in his entire career.

"I've been competing in this sport for a very long time. This is my 19th fight in the UFC. I have been thoroughly tested many times and have never had a positive test," Silva said in a statement released by manager Ed Soares. "I have not taken any performance enhancing drugs. My stance on drugs is and will always be the same."

Silva and his camp said they are considering options on how to clear the former UFC champion's name, saying there might have been contamination or the laboratory that conducted the test made a mistake.
