A huge Powerball jackpot will be split by three separate winners, and now those who did not win are expressing their anger that one of the winning tickets is from Puerto Rico.

Social media users have expressed their anger (and jealousy) that someone from Puerto Rico will get a share of the $564 million jackpot.

Some tweets showed confusion.

"@filoquecorta It's completely outrageous someone from Puerto Rico won the Powerball, thought this was America!" a user named The Cutting Edge said via Twitter.

Puerto Rico is a United States territory and considered part of the U.S, however, this Twitter user seems clueless about the commonwealth's status.

WTF .... since when could you win a Powerball jackpot in Puerto Rico? Don't they use the Euro as currency?

Meanwhile, some tweets defended the U.S. territory:

For all the ignorance I have seen towards #puertorico and the #powerball. YES we speak English probably better than those who are upset. - Emily Lebron (@vimarie313) February 12, 2015

Meanwhile, a Puerto Rican winning the Powerball lottery means some Americans will self-educate themselves on the area, Osman Perez Mendez said on Twitter:

The bright side of #Powerball winning ticket in #PuertoRico, a free lesson of geography, history and politics for many Americans - Osman Perez Mendez (@Osman_PM) February 12, 2015

The Powerball lottery came to Puerto Rico in October 2014, and this winning ticket marks its first winner.

"We are beyond thrilled with the news that we already have a multimillion-dollar winner just four months after Puerto Rico began selling Powerball tickets," Antonio Perez Lopez, assistant secretary of the Puerto Rico Lottery, said according to The Associated Press.

The winner purchased the ticket at a Shell gas station in Southern Puerto Rico. They have yet to come forward to announce themselves as the winner.

The winner will have an option of taking the lump sum of $101.6 million or dividing their winnings into 30 payments over 29 years.
