New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony is planning to play in the 2015 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, but it will likely be his final game of the season as he is considering undergoing surgery soon.

Anthony, who was voted to start for the Eastern Conference team in the All-Star Game, told ESPN Radio he will likely shut it down after the break in order to make sure that he will not aggravate his injured knee.

"I've got to start thinking about the future," Anthony said. "This season is this season. So I really want to just sit down with my team and sit down with the proper people to just kind of plan this thing out and see exactly what I have to do to get done and just to fix it."

Anthony, who is averaging 24.2 points to go along with 6.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game this season, has been slowed down by recurring knee soreness since their second game of the season.

Knicks team doctors previously said that the injury will not lead to a serious one if he continues to play, but Anthony's condition will not improve eiher unless he undergoes surgery and sit out their remaining games this season.

Anthony, whose team holds the worst record in the league heading into the break at 10-43, said he wants to be ready for his offseason workouts in the summer and training camp, which is the reason why he is strongly considering having the surgery done soon.

"That's why if anything was to get done, I want to get it done right away so I'm not taking time and missing training camp and things like that," Anthony said. "When I come back to training camp, I want to be sharp."

As for the All-Star Game, the 30-year-old superstar said he cannot afford to skip the annual event because he wants to give back to fans who voted him to start for the East, especially to New Yorkers since they will be hosting this year's All-Star weekend.

"Even if I come out and just play a couple minutes and just wave," Anthony said. "I don't think the fans deserve [seeing me miss the game]. They voted me in for a reason, so at least I can show them that I appreciate that by just participating in the game."
