Sunday Night Football 2013 - NFL Week 11 Scores & Teams: Broncos Beat Undefeated Chiefs, Giants Win Fourth Straight
The undefeated Kansas City Chiefs finally faced a team with a winning record and hours later they found themselves sitting in second place in the AFC West.
The Denver Broncos went into the game with one loss and they knew they could forget all about it with a win against division rival Kansas City. Across the sideline, the Chiefs were sick of being called into question simply because of a first half schedule that was easy.
It was the Broncos offensive line that did the deed in this matchup as they protected Peyton Manning all night and gave up no sacks against a Chiefs defense that leads the league in sacks.
The Broncos ultimately held on to win, 27-17.
"We played a good football team," first-year Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. "They got us today."
The usually-dominant Chiefs defense was just getting by in the game and it was reflected in the score. Still, it was the lowest points total for the Broncos yet this season so Kansas City didn't give up too many big plays.
"It's one thing to say offenses are catching up to us just because we lost one game," Chiefs cornerback Sean Smith said. "Our defense is still very good. We're not hanging our heads low. You've got to give some credit to the offense. They're very efficient. They don't make too many mistakes. But still we have to find some kind of way to force turnovers. We definitely need more opportunities for our offense."
In other games, the Giants won their fourth straight to improve to 4-6 on the season while the Cincinnati Bengals rallied from a 13 point deficit to score 31 points in the second quarter en route to a 41-20 victory. The Philadelphia Eagles knocked off the Washington Redskins and took possession of first place in the NFC East while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won for the second straight week.
