George Zimmerman Domestic Violence Arrest: New Girlfriend Calls Police
George Zimmerman is in trouble with the law yet again after getting arrested on Monday for what is believed to be a domestic violence accusation.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Zimmerman was arrested at around 1 p.m.. and WESH-TV reported that his new girlfriend accused him of domestic violence.
Zimmerman, who was acquitted on murder charges after the death of Trayvon Martin, has been in the news several times since the end of his trial. His estranged wife, Shellie, called the police earlier this fall when he was gathering his things from his house and he was handcuffed by police.
In television interviews after the trial was over, Shellie Zimmerman opened up about her marriage with George and even said that she wasn't totally sold on George's story.
"I think anyone would doubt that innocence because I don't know the person that I have been married to," she said in September.
Shellie also talked before about the way her husband changed once the trial was over.
"He just kind of treated me like I was disposable ... after standing by him," Shellie Zimmerman said. "He kind of left and I guess kind of went on a victory tour without me, and I thought that I was living a life with him and that we were going to kind of rebuild after all of this, (but) he had other plans for me."
Shellie pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor perjury charge stemming from her testimony in court about the couple's finances. She was sentenced to a year of probation and 100 hours of community service.
