North Korea's Kim Jong Un updated his hairstyle and trimmed his eyebrows according to recently released photos.

Huffington Post reports Jong Un's hair has always been unique. He keeps the sides real short and focuses on the top.

He kept that same look with his new hairstyle, except the top is much longer and shaped better now.

Several publications have weighed in with their opinions of the new cut:

CNN calls it a "power haircut."

The New York Daily News called it "barbarous."

New York Magazine calls the cut "ambitious."

Twitter users are comparing it to video game characters and one Twitter user imagined what President Obama would look like with the haircut.

The haircut is shaped more like a trapezoid, and it could be hard to keep up with.

Ki Lee, founder and creative of a salon in London called Hurwundeki, said Jong Un's hairstyle is a result of a perm and wax, according to the Daily Dot.

"It's not too easy to do on Asian hair, but we get a lot of people coming into the salon requesting this sort of volume," Lee said.

Lee said Jong Un will have to have his hairstyle treated with a new perm every few months if he wants to keep up with it.

Jong Un did not always have this type of hai. As a child he had a full head of medium length hair, and as a teenager he kept his hair cuts close but kept the sides, according to photos published by Chosun. In 2010, when Jong Un assumed power of North Korea, he cut his hair to remind residents of his grandfather Kim Il-Sung. Last year, Jong Un started to grow the top of his hair longer, and from photos, it looks like he went heavy on the wax to keep its shape.

This year, Jong Un seems to have taken a liking to the trapezoid shaped top, the shaved sides and reworked eyebrows. He still is using quite a bit of wax to keep the shape. Look at this tweet to see the side-by-side comparison of Jong Un's hair from early last year (left) to now.

Quite the change.
