LISTA to Host Sacramento, California Summit: Silicon Valley Diversity Discussion & More on Schedule
The Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association (LISTA) will host a summit and awards ceremony for Latinos in technology from March 31 through April 1.
TechWire reports the event will take place March 31 through April 1 in Sacramento and is designed to celebrate Latinos involved in the technology industry.
"The summit will deliver new and thought provoking ideas to this community," said Jorge Avila, president of LISTA NorCal TechLatino Council. "Innovation and disruption are both makers and builders. We have a lineup of 'disrupters' that are taking a left turn to literally move and change how we think, behave, do business, learn, and go about our day-today life."
The awards ceremony will honor California's "unsung heroes" in technology for their achievements and contributions, the event's website says.
The summit will include expo booths from businesses that the hundreds in attendance will be able to visit and learn about. Networking sessions will help guests become familiar with Fortune 500 leaders and different agencies.
Lack of diversity in Silicon Valley as well as closing the digital divide by 2020 will be discussed at the Summit .
A screening of the movie "Spare Parts" will be shown to guests. In the movie, an unlikely group of four students from a Phoenix high school beat out MIT and other universities in a robotics competition.
Experts will be at the summit detailing trends in technology and speaking about leadership, diversity and inclusion, security, social media, education and cultivation of startups.
The event will be held at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel on 1230 J St. in Sacramento.
The official event webpage details how to RSVP.
