Minnesota Vikings 2015-2016 Roster Rumors & News: Team Refusing to Trade Adrian Peterson to the Dallas Cowboys?
Adrian Peterson wants to play for Dallas, but the Minnesota Vikings do not want that to happen, according to reports.
Bleacher Report reports Peterson spoke to Vikings general manager Rick Spielman and asked for a trade, but the Vikings were not willing to entertain a trade with Peterson and "especially not to the Cowboys."
"But the Vikings will not, do not want to trade him in any way, shape or form -- specifically not to the Cowboys," NFL insider Jason Cole said, according to the Daily Norseman.
Peterson is still under contract with the Vikings for the 2015-2016 NFL season, but he told ESPN on Thursday he is "still uneasy" about returning to the team.
Peterson had legal issues to attend to all of last season and was placed on the commissioner's exempt list. Because of that, he missed the entire season.
Peterson said he felt abandoned by the team while he tended to his off-the-field life.
"There were people (in the organization) that I trusted, who knew exactly what was said, that weren't heard from," Peterson said. "It's hard to say (what my future will be). I'm still uneasy, to be honest with you. ... about a lot of things that took place within the organization. Of course those guys ultimately supported me, and I'm grateful for that. But ultimately, with me being able to be on the inside and see how cards were dealt, how things were worded, this, that and the other, it's about protecting your brand, your organization, what you have built. In the (grand) scheme of things, not one person counts over that. I get that."
The Cowboys would make sense as a potential home for Peterson. Their league-leading running back last year, DeMarco Murray, will be a free agent, and the team is unsure where negotiations will go with him, Sporting News reports.
The Vikings will have the ultimate say in Peterson. He is owed $12.75 million for the 2015-2016 season. If he holds out, the Vikings might have to make a quick decision.
What do you think? Will Peterson play for the Vikings or the Cowboys next year? Or someone else? Leave us a comment below with your guess.
