Bill O'Reilly is being accused of embellishing stories of his experiences covering the Falklands War. A New York Times reporter is investigating the story, and now O'Reilly is threatening, if he does not approve of the way she covers the story, he will retaliate against her, USAToday reports.

"I am coming after you with everything I have," O'Reilly told Emily Steel, according to the reporter's The New York Times article. "You can take it as a threat."  

O'Reilly reportedly told Steel that if she covers the story in a way he deems as inappropriate, there will be repercussions.

Steel's co-author in the story Ravi Somaiya sent out a tweet regarding the threats, saying O'Reilly had "threatened to come after @emilySteel if he did not approve of [the] story." 

O'Reilly claims he reported from a "combat zone" in Argentina during the Falklands War but has been doubted by colleagues who worked with him in the early 80s Interviews by former CBS News journalists and claims by Mother Jones magazine said he did not report from a combat zone.

O'Reilly insisted last week he never said he reported from the Falkland Islands, but he did report from Buenos Aires where there were violent protests, according to The Independent. He argued his claims are true by showing footage of violent protests in Buenos Aires. He also interviewed other journalists who were reporting on the conflict.

O'Reilly accused other journalists of running a smear campaign against him after the recent findings that Brian Williams of NBC exaggerated some of his claims.

Roger Ailes, Fox News CEO, said he fully supports O'Reilly.

O'Reilly tried to quiet down the accusations by showing more footage from the violent protests on his Monday broadcast of "The O'Reilly Factor." 

"I want to stop this now," he said. "I hope we can stop it. I really do."
