ABC 'Scandal' Creator Shonda Rhimes Says Lady Gaga Oscars 2015 Performance Was 'Not Okay' Despite Praise From Julie Andrews, Glen Beck
"Scandal" writer and director Shonda Rhimes took to Twitter on Sunday evening to blast Lady Gaga's Oscars performance.
Rhimes commented that Gaga's tribute to the "Sound of Music's" Julie Andrews was "not okay" and suggested that Tony award-winner Idina Menzel should have been chosen to perform instead.

But despite Rhimes' negative comments on Lady Gaga's "Sound of Music" performance, Oscar viewers generally thought otherwise, says New York Daily News. Following her performance, Lady Gaga received a standing ovation with a few tearful actors in the audience.
Andrews also applauded Gaga's tribute to her and commented that the performance really "warmed" her heart.
Another person who was quite fond of Gaga's performance was radio host Glen Beck.
"I've said this for a long time: This woman is an absolute artist. She is a genius, and, at first, everybody mocked her. Then she just became such a big pop star, but a lot of people, again, continued to mock her," Beck said on his radio show. "Lady Gaga proved last night she is a master craftswoman."
Gaga caught wind of Beck's praise and reposted a story about his comments on her Twitter account.
Prior to Lady Gaga's Oscar performance, Oscar producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan told Entertainment Tonight that Lady Gaga rehearsed tirelessly every day for six months straight to prepare her vocals for the show.
"She worked half a year with a vocal coach every day for half a year to do that," Zadan said.
"She's the real deal," Meron added. "She can do anything."
The producers also mentioned that Lady Gaga told them that the performance would change the direction of her career if she managed to pull it off.
Lady Gaga also spoke with ET prior to her performance and gushed over how excited she was to perform.
"I'm just very excited to be here, and I really put my heart into this performance," Gaga said. "It's a tribute performance for a remarkable film that changed the history of cinema forever, and I'm just very honored to be doing it."
So far, Lady Gaga has yet to respond to Rhimes' diss.
