Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy, movie, Online & Sequel Update: Jamie Dornan Returning to 50 Shades?
Although rumors had circulated that Irish actor Jamie Dornan would leave the "Fifty Shades of Grey" franchise if any sequels were made, the actor's representative has refuted these claims.
A representative for Dornan, 32, said the actor would be excited to partake in sequel Universal Studios may be planning.
"Jamie is delighted that the film is breaking box office records worldwide and whilst the studio has not made any formal announcements about sequels, he is looking forward to making the next film," the representative told People, adding that there would not be any further comments.
According to Yahoo! Australian magazine NW reported Dornan would not return for any of the sequels, claiming sources said his wife Amelia Warner was not happy with the film.
"Jamie said the movie would skyrocket his career," the insider told NW. "He tried to assure Amelia nothing would change but women all over the world now lust after Jamie. She hasn't seen the film and I don't think she will to be honest."
The source also talked about Dornan's performance and its lackluster reviews, laying the blame at his co-star's feet.
"Jamie does not think his performance was bad -- instead he blames Dakota and says it wasn't possible to have chemistry with her," the source explained, referencing Dakota Johnson who plays Anastasia Steele.
"He says Dakota gave him nothing to work with."
Although Universal has not announced any sequels yet, the possibility remains. However, the studio may have to deal with more than just a subpar performance by Johnson. Director Sam Taylor-Johnson and writer Kelly Marcel will not be returning for any sequels, according to rumors, because of their disagreements with writer E.L. James.
They may also need to battle dwindling numbers. According to the Guardian, "Fifty Shades of Grey" attendance has started plummeting both in the U.S. and around the world. Recent numbers show the movie's popularity is waning.
Sales have dropped 73 percent in the U.S. and 57 percent around the world as the fans stop going to see the movie.
