Apple Watch Release Date, Price & Specs Rumors: Invitations Sent Out for March Event Possibly Debuting New iPad, Macbook Air
On Thursday, Apple sent out invitations to the media for an event on March 9 simply called "Spring Forward." It is widely expected that this will be the official announcement of the Apple Watch.
TechCrunch reports the event will be held at San Francisco's Yerba Buea Center for the Arts. At the event, pricing for the new Apple Watch is expected to be finalized, and a new MacBook Air and new iPad model could also be introduced.
If a new MacBook Air laptop is introduced, it will be a MacBook Air with a Retina Display. That has been a highly anticipated feature for the ultraportable laptop.
If a new iPad model is introduced, it will reportedly be a large-screened model measuring about 12 inches.
Potential buyers of the Apple Watch might be able to select from several different models, each varying in price, The Verge reports. The aluminum Sport model is expected to cost $350, but the prices of the regular model and the high-end Apple Watch Edition are not yet known.
Apple has not introduced a new product since Steve Jobs unveiled the original iPad back 2010 and excitement is high for the wearable devices, so Apple might want to devote the entire presentation on the Apple Watch instead of also giving time the a new MacBook Air or iPad.
Tech analysts are saying that the new Apple Watch will get about a day's worth of battery and will have a touchscreen. Apple will want to provide more details on the device and show demonstrations of its use.
There will likely be a pre-order process before the watch goes on sale sometime in April. Those details will be explained at the March 9 event that begins at 10 a.m. Pacific time.
What do you think Apple will announce on March 9? A new Apple Watch? New iPads? Or a new MacBook Air? Or will they announce all three? Leave us a comment below and let us know what you think.
