'Empire' Cast & News: 50 Cent Says Fox Show Is Like 'Glee' With 'A Little Hip-Hop Music In It,' Thinks Plot Moves too Fast [Watch]
Rapper and entrepreneur Curtis "50 cent" Jackson is dissing the hit Fox show "Empire" once again and comparing it to the Fox musical television show "Glee."
In a recent interview with MTV, Jackson summarized Lee Daniels' show by saying "It's like 'Glee' with a little hip-hop music in it."
Jackson also poked fun at the show's directing and storyline in comparison to "Power," his own hit show on Starz.
"I feel like the story line is moving extremely fast. My character didn't show up till episode four in 'Power' because I was in jail for a long period of time," Jackson said. "Taraji [P. Henson] came home on the first episode after 17 years. ... What happened to the rest of the story?"
But despite his criticism of the show, Jackson congratulated the "Empire" cast and crew on its success, sent a special shoutout to Henson, and predicted a love connection between them in the future.
"Taraji, you fine motherf**ker, I'm happy to date you one day. How you know this ain't the love connection connection we been waiting for girl? you know I say things I don't mean," he said.
Back in December, Jackson made some disparaging comments about "Empire" via Twitter. He slammed the show for allegedly copying his show's marketing strategy.
"Power Season 2 is unbelievably good trust me. I have the best writers and show runner. I like Terrence Howard and Taraji Henson. I don't like that They would copy the Marketing," he wrote on Twitter.
That tweet was later deleted.
Henson later caught wind of the tweets and responsed to Jackson.
Later on in an interview with The Wrap, Henson praised Jackson and suggested that the alleged beef between them was all in good fun.
"50 Cent is a comedian," Henson told The Wrap. "He loves to push buttons. He's a funny guy. I never took offense to it.
