Veteran boxing manager Gary Gittelsohn is now one of the few predicting a victory for Manny Pacquiao.

Gittelsohn told The Philippine Star that he expects Pacquiao to score a lopsided decision win over Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the long-awaited super fight on May 2 at MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Gittelsohn said that he expects Mayweather to become more of a defensive fighter on fight night, but it could backfire at him because Pacquiao has the tools to put the reigning pound-for-pound king into trouble.

"I strongly believe Manny will win the fight in a one-sided distance contest," Gittelsohn said. "I envision Mayweather going into a defensive shell unable to deal with Manny's work rate."

The boxing manager also added that the fight might not live up to expectations because the bout could have been bigger had the two boxing superstars decided to collide several years ago. Gittelsohn is quite sure, though, that Pacquiao will silence his critics and that there will be a rematch later this year.

"Given the anticipation and buildup for this event, I think the fight itself will not contain the kind of fireworks people expect," Gittelsohn said of the long-awaited super showdown. "Still, this will surely be Manny's crowning ring achievement. As for a rematch, I think it's likely."

On the other hand, former world champion Brian Viloria, who is managed by Gittelsohn, is hoping that his compatriot will win against Mayweather, but he admitted he is unsure of the outcome of the fight.

Viloria pointed out that it is hard to predict the result of the fight because Mayweather and Pacquiao have contrasting styles that could lead to a tactical showdown, comparing the upcoming showdown to previous bouts involving boxing legends.

"This is a prime example between a defensive fighter in Mayweather and one of the most prolific offensive fighters in Pacquiao," Viloria said. "I'm expecting a very technical fight between two of the best fighters in boxing history. The magnitude of this fight is at par with Ali versus Frazier and Tyson versus Holyfield."

Both fighters, who agreed to a 60-40 split on fight purse that could hit as high as $300 million, have already started their respective training camps for "The Fight of the Century" on Monday.
